Project_0172 is a celebration of the universal conventions of architecture and the symbols and language we use to effectively communicate our design intent through drawing.

These vast array of beautiful symbols/conventions have no agenda, nor do they discriminate based on ones colour, ethnicity or language and yet they manage to unite all towards a common goal. We think this is actually rather profound and worth celebrating as an artifact of hope and unity.

The third in our series celebrating the universal conventions of Architectural drawing is the symbol for the humble stair. If we were to use the recent Marvel comics analogy, it would have to be one of the infinity stones lol. Without the stair and associated arrow, we would lose the link between being able to understand one floor plan from another. It is the perfect example of how a simple symbol can allow one to understand 3D space and the constructs of our reality through the medium of 2D drawing. It is truly a thing of wonder, a silent hero if ever there was one.
